A roo and his mech by kitfox-crimson A roo and his mech by kitfox-crimson
In commemoration of reaching 50 pages in the comic, I decided to do this, just as a change of pace.

This is Duncan Zeehan, top pilot of the Australian forces. And his mech, the Southern Cross, Guardian of Canberra.

There are five Australian mechs, one for each state, and I will draw one after each 50 pages. (yes! Be afraid!!)
I personally don't like these colours very much, but it had to be green and gold because it is the Australian flagship. (nb, a bit of red was added later in honour of Duncans most frequent passenger.)

Some specs on this mech.
Height: 185 feet
Weight: 600 tonnes
Powerplant: Fourth dimensional transition engine
Weapons systems: Vertical time sword
Horizontal time cannon
Virtical time wing blades
Max speed ground: 400kmh
Max speed air: 17,000kmh
Max armour thickness: 12 inches
Crew: 1
Max passengers: 2
Range: 24,000km

"I would have waited an eternity for this. Its over Prime" :)

I loved the transformers movie. Im a little young to have seen or at least remember alot of the series....but I remember the movie and it was awesome. I got it on my computer and even made a 9 minute music video out of it :D

"How do you feel mighty Megatron?" *boot*

Oh god I love that scene!!! Starscream kicks ass!!! The series came out the year I was born....but they were still showing it on tv when I was in about grade 3 or 4. It was so awesome! Best cartoon ever I reckon! I bought the first series on DVD a while ago. Some of the first eps are a bit dodgy..but still very cool!
I'm still blown away by the animation standard in the movie! It is si fantastic, considering it is nearly 20 years old!! And the music! I burnt the soundtrack, and I could listen to it repeatedly for ever! I love it so much!!

"first we crack the shell, then we crack the nuts inside!" (I could possibly quote a WHOLE bunch of things.....however I think this reply could go on and on and on if we kept doing that :P)

ohh.....so many good memories of that movie! Starscream was cool....but my favourite was Optimus Prime. I loved that little mouth piece he has. I guess transformers are the reason I like....and did start to draw robot and mechs :)

Yeah I know! Even if Transformers copied their ideas off Macross, it was still one of the coolest things ever!! I think this is what started me off with the robots and mechs too! Although now I have moved into less blocky robots and more organically shaped ones...

Well good news and more good news mixed with anoying repitition as well. Good news is that I showed this picture to my art teacher (as Im carrying it around as refernce) and she noted a lot of great things I never thought I would be able to comment on and explain well. Your shading with a pencil crayon is more than just a darker shade of the color, but in fact the glossy and shiney parts of the mech are of differnt colors. Its a neat use of colors to fully add perspective and depth to the drawing. The colors are smooth and clean...which I find REALLY hard to do with pencil crayons. And the good, but anoyingly repeditive news is that I decided to redo the picture....Im going to try and do a good job...nay...a great job. I cant express how sorry I am for my lack of motivation and resposibility to finish this sooner. I've got two refernce pictures in my sketchbook which Ill carry around and do (hopefully) a picture that does your idea well :)

THe printed one wasnt great...but somehow I like looking at things in real life than on the computer. They look better almost. But yeah I also forgot to mention more of my actual thoughts on this. At the height of this mech...its taller than an Eva isnt it? And also the background reminds me of Autobot City :)
