It's a cool idea but atomic bombs have chemical explosives in them to trigger the chain reaction. There'd be a small explosion but still a lot less destruction. You have to wonder though, what would that do to the radioactive-heat gradient in the earths crust. Or maybe it only works on enriched uranium/plutonium?

yeah yeah I know they have a small ammount of chemical explosives in them, but I was going for a more dramatic effect XD it wouldnt have been the same without the rocket sitting like that ^^

About the radioactive heat gradient of the earth... the anti-rad field probably doesnt penetrate far enough into the earths crust to matter ^^
